Frequently Asked Questions

Does dental insurance cover cosmetic dentistry?

Most insurance plans don't cover treatments performed purely for cosmetic reasons, such as teeth whitening or veneers. Some treatments that also fix a problem, such as bonding a chipped tooth, may be partly covered. Our team will gladly check your benefits and go over financing options with you.

Do my teeth need to be healthy before cosmetic treatment?

Yes. Before starting cosmetic work, we'll address any cavities, gum disease, or other concerns. A healthy foundation helps your results look better and last longer, and it keeps your smile strong underneath.

Are cosmetic dental treatments painful?

Most cosmetic treatments are very comfortable. Bonding and whitening usually don't require any numbing. For veneers, we numb the area so you'll feel little more than pressure. Some patients notice mild, temporary sensitivity afterward, which fades on its own.

How long do cosmetic dental results last?

It depends on the treatment. Porcelain veneers can last 10 to 15 years or longer with good care. Bonding usually lasts several years before it needs a touch-up. Whitening results can last a year or more, depending on your habits.

What's the difference between veneers and bonding?

Both can fix chips, gaps, and uneven teeth. Bonding uses tooth-colored resin and is applied in a single visit, making it a more budget-friendly option. Veneers are custom porcelain shells that resist stains better and last longer. Dr. O'Shea will help you decide which fits your goals.

Is there an age limit for cosmetic dentistry?

Not really! Adults of all ages can enjoy a brighter, more confident smile. Some treatments, like veneers, are best once teeth have finished developing, usually in the late teens. We'll recommend options that fit your age, oral health, and goals.
