Teeth Whitening

Sometimes, all your smile needs is a little boost. If you’re dealing with stains from coffee, tea, red wine, or just years of everyday life, professional whitening can make a dramatic difference—quickly and safely. At O’Shea Family Dental, we offer teeth whitening solutions that are powerful, effective, and tailored to your comfort.

Why Choose Professional Whitening?

Over-the-counter strips and kits often deliver mixed results. Our whitening treatments are stronger, safer, and customized to your smile, giving you a noticeable improvement in a shorter time.

  • Fast, dramatic results
  • Safe for enamel and gums
  • Custom care based on your needs and goals
  • Reduced sensitivity compared to DIY products
  • A more even, natural-looking whitened smile

Your Whitening Options

We offer two flexible options to fit your lifestyle:

In-Office Whitening

This treatment is perfect if you want immediate results. It takes about an hour and can whiten your teeth several shades in a single visit. It's great for weddings, interviews, reunions, or just because!

Custom Take-Home Kits

Prefer to whiten on your own time? We’ll create trays molded to fit your teeth and provide a professional-grade whitening gel. You’ll see great results in just a few days, with full results typically in 1–2 weeks.

Is Whitening Right for You?

Most patients with healthy teeth and gums are good candidates for whitening, but we always do a full evaluation first. We’ll make sure your discoloration isn’t related to a deeper issue and help you decide if whitening is the best fit or if another cosmetic option is more suitable.

Whitening may not work as well on restorations (like crowns or veneers) or certain types of internal discoloration. Luckily for you, we’ve got options for those situations, too!

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I avoid after whitening my teeth?

Your teeth are more likely to pick up stains right after whitening. For the first 48 hours or so, try to limit coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, berries, and tomato sauce. Skipping tobacco will also help your bright new smile stay that way.

What if my teeth feel sensitive after whitening?

Mild, temporary sensitivity can happen and usually fades within a day or two. A toothpaste made for sensitive teeth can help. If you're using a take-home kit, you can also take a break for a day between treatments. Let us know if the sensitivity doesn't go away.

Should I get a dental cleaning before whitening?

We recommend it! A professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar buildup so the whitening gel can reach your enamel evenly. It also gives us a chance to take care of any cavities or gum concerns first, which helps you get the best results.

How often can I whiten my teeth?

Whitening isn't something you need to do constantly. Many patients do occasional touch-ups to keep their smiles bright. If you have custom trays, you can reuse them with touch-up gel. We'll recommend a schedule that keeps your teeth bright without overdoing it.

Can I whiten my teeth while pregnant or breastfeeding?

To be safe, we recommend waiting until after pregnancy and breastfeeding. There isn't much research on how whitening affects expecting or nursing moms. Your smile will be ready when you are, and we'll be happy to help then.

Why do my teeth look yellow even though I brush every day?

Great brushing habits can't always prevent discoloration. As we age, enamel naturally thins and lets the yellow layer underneath show through. Genetics and certain medications can also affect tooth color. Professional whitening works well for many types of yellowing. For deeper discoloration, veneers or bonding may give better results, and we'll help you find the right fit.
